Meet Our Executive Director
Anthony L. Marchetta became the Executive Director of The New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency on September 1, 2010. Mr. Marchetta has over 35 years of experience in both the public and private sector.
Since his arrival at NJHMFA, Mr. Marchetta has instituted significant new programs, including the Multifamily Conduit Bond Program, Mortgage Backed Securities Program and the Supportive Housing Connection Program. He led the Agency to establish new meaningful policies in areas such as development cost containment and delinquent asset management procedures. Also, the Agency has been recognized by HUD for its smart growth and opportunity incentives in the federal Low Income Housing Tax Credits Qualified Allocation Plan, which has resulted in better locations of new tax credit projects. In addition, since 2012 he has led NJHMFA's response to Superstorm Sandy, which has deployed nearly $750 million through several programs designed to stabilize Sandy-impacted towns and create thousands of new housing opportunities for those impacted by the storm. These combined efforts have generated a threefold increase in housing units financed by the NJHMFA since 2010.
Prior to joining NJHMFA, Mr. Marchetta spent 25 years in the real estate development industry in the tri-state area. In his last position, he was Vice President of LCOR Inc. between 2000 and 2010 where he sought development opportunities throughout the mid-Atlantic region. There he led development teams of consultants including attorneys, engineers, architects, planners and leasing agents from entitlements to lease up for major residential and commercial projects.
Early in his career he was in the public sector in Middlesex County where he last served as the Executive Director of the Department of Housing and Community Development. In 1998 Governor Whitman appointed Mr. Marchetta, a New Jersey Licensed Professional Planner, to serve on the New Jersey State Planning Commission, which adopted the NJ State Development and Redevelopment Plan in March 2001. He is a multiple graduate of Rutgers University where he received his Bachelor and two Master’s Degrees, one in City and Regional Planning and the other in Business Administration. He is active in several professional and nonprofit organizations including the Rutgers Center for Real Estate, the NJ Sharing Network, the Bloustein School Alumni Association, and Dorothea’s House.
Married for 40 years, Mr. Marchetta and his wife, Maureen, have six adult children, seven grandchildren, and currently reside in Princeton.
